- Advises on complex patient cases
- Monitors medical evidence
- Evaluates treatment pathways
- Supports medical quality and safety policies
Patient Assistance Committee
Responsible for overseeing beneficiary selection and funding allocation. Decisions are documented and conflicts of interest declared.

- Independent governance oversight
Nobody decides alone
- The board sets strategy and oversees finances, but medical eligibility is overseen by an independent committee.
- Donors and companies can support programs or domains, but cannot select beneficiaries or override decisions.
- The Patient Assistance Committee combines medical, financial, social and governance viewpoints, and documents its decisions.
- Conflicts of interest are declared by staff, board members, medical reviewers and partners.
- External audits are intended to verify finances and operations independently.
Responsibility, not just participation
Youth leadership should be reflected in actual governance rather than simply volunteer participation.
- Give young people meaningful strategic responsibilities
- Develop youth leadership in international health initiatives
- Recruit volunteers and professionals across different disciplines
- Create opportunities for young people to participate in institutional development
- Maintain professional medical and financial oversight
- Establish mentorship relationships with experienced professionals
Always qualified
AAM’s medical and financial responsibilities must always be handled by appropriately qualified individuals.
